Alliance of Rainforest (AORF)

Alliance of Rainforest (AORF)

Generally reputed to be 130 million years old rainforest, we promote the AORF as 3 distinctive types of forest as gazetted by the Malaysian Forestry Department. They are the Upper Dipterocarp Forest (located at 3,000ft above sea level), Montane-Oak Forest (located at 4,500ft above sea level) and Montane-Ericaceous Forest (located at 6,000ft above sea level) in Genting Highlands.

All our work, on conservation and activities today is concentrated in the AORF.

So what do we do here?

We study and record (in print, photos and videos) the 3 types of forest and its biodiversity in general and on specific conservation subjects to build up information and share the information duly with the proprietors of the mountain and with their collaboration, share the information and create activities that can benefit the society, the environment, the authorities and the proprietors via activities, social media and public relation & CSR events.

Fashion Forest (FF)

This is the lead project. The FF is a stretch of Upper Dipterocarp rainforest located on a ridge at RWGenting Awana with a trail length of 500m and 500m width on both sides of the ridge. In it, our first effort is to study its rich bio-diversity, animals and plants kingdom, in depth.

What have we initiated here?

  1. We “fashioned a forest”
    1. We created 5 Fashion Forest Galleries
      1. Gallery 1 – Steps
      2. Gallery 2 – Forest Floor 1
      3. Gallery 3 – Forest Floor 2
      4. Gallery 4 – Forest Floor 3
      5. Gallery 5 – Fashion Forest Walk Trail
  2. Celebri-Tree Project – Making Supermodels of Our Animal and Plant Bio-Diversity
  3. Plant a Tree in Someone’s Heart – A Social Media Campaign to create a love for Nature
  4. Start Your Own Forest – A TREKS outreach bio-diversity initiative to get the Public, Special Interest Groups and Private Enterprise to start their own Fashion Forest akin to our Fashion Forest at RW Genting Awana

To sum up, where Fashion Forest is concerned, TREKS creates, publicizes, manages and sustain an integral part of a 130 million years old rainforest for eco-tourism and for bio-diversity interactive activities that benefits society at large.

Chocolate Forest (CF)

This is our second initiative. The CF is all areas within RW Genting Resorts and fringes of the Montane-Ericaceous rainforest.

What do we do here?

  1. The key initiative is the setting up of a Nepenthes Conservatory. The efforts undertaken are:
    1. Nepenthes Rescue & Collection
    2. Nepenthes Rehabilitation
    3. Nepenthes Nurseries
    4. Nepenthes Display
    5. Nepenthes Trails
    6. Nepenthes Preservation
    7. Nepenthes Education
    8. Nepenthes Interactive Services
    9. Nepenthes Events
  2. Other parallel conservation efforts are:
    1. Fern Moss Conservation
    2. Tree Fern Conservation
    3. Wild Bamboo Orchids Conservations
  3. Animal Kingdom studies

In particular, TREKS aims to make the endemic Nepenthes of Genting Highlands world-famous for its hybrids, colors, shapes and sizes.

Sky Forest (SF)

Nature is not only about animals and plant life or only about the environment. It is also about nature ‘up above, in the air, in the sky and in the heavens’. One cannot say one has full grasp of nature without knowing what’s high above the forest floor.

What we do:

  1. Talk about the types of clouds and their splendor
  2. Talk about the Genting weather – the rain, the wind, the lightning and the thunder
  3. Talk about the altitude
  4. Talk about temperature
  5. Talk about the panoramic views
  6. Talk about the stars and the constellations
  7. Talk about the planets
  8. Talk about the moon and the sun
  9. Talk about the environment
  10. And talk about the animal and plant bio-diversity of the Montane-Oak rainforest

All said, at TREKS, we just want to bring subjects that are least talked-about for your awareness.

What else is there about TREKS?

  1. We are self-funded. We generate income from services
  2. We are not an NGO. We are a social enterprise.
  3. We are Naturalists
  4. We are passionate about you getting to know more about nature at AORF
  5. We are creative and ideas-oriented to promote knowledge and practical experience
  6. We want to achieve all our ideas and goals on Nature expecting to contribute to social developments and being successful entrepreneurially
